X-Colours are now officially recognised by the FIFe. These Colours are named amber (only recognized for black within the existing colour varieties of the Norwegian Forest Cat) and light amber (only recognized for blue within the existing colour varieties of the Norwegian Forest Cat) for diluted colour versions. From 2005 these new coloured cats will get Champion Classification and they will be exposed in existing colour groups 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. For the moment there are only agouti-colours. As soon the breed has Non-agoutis, colour groups will be completed with 1 and 2.

*) Since 01.01.2008 the scale of point has changed for the coat. Until 01.01.2008 the judges could give a maximum of 25 points for the quality, texture and length. Although the Norwegian Forest Cat is not bred on colour, from 01.01.2008 the judges can divide these point into a maximum of 20 points for the quality, texture and length and a maximum of 5 points for the colour and the pattern/dividing of the colours.

BIV Best in Variety depends on the amount cats in the classes and groups. The judge can choose for a BIV-total or separate the classes by kittens and adults, even a separation in the kitten class is possible if there are enough (3 at least in both classes) 3-6 and 6-10 kittens.   The neuters compete for BIV-neuter. In the examples below: 10 + = class 1, 3, 5, 7, 9. Note: the 'BIV' title cannot be refused, if the exhibit has obtained the necessary 95 points in its class. (see picture below)
NOM Nomination for BIS in order to be nominated for Best in Show, the adult candidate must have been awarded the title Best in Variety. However, if the number of cats required is insufficient, the judge can nominate a cat, which has obtained at least 97 points but was not awarded a BIVA judge may nominate an adult cat for Best in Show adult even if it has been beaten by a youngster 6-10 or kitten 3-6 months, or by another adult of the opposite sex in the same variety provided it has obtained at least 97 points. A judge may nominate a neuter even if it has been beaten by another neuter of the opposite sex in the same variety, provided it has obtained at least 97 points.
BIS Best in Show each category can have BIS titles as: adult male, adult female, adult neuter male, adult neuter female, youngster 6-10 months (not divided by sex), kitten 3-6 months (not divided by sex). Housecats can have BIS titles regardless of hair-length, age and sex.

Some countries have exceptions to the show rules below, by reason of geographical location, economical situation or the present quarantine rules.

EUROPEAN CHAMPION (FIFe American Champion) from 01.01.2009 SUPREME CHAMPION
This class is open to cats, which have already received the title 'European Champion'. The exhibit will receive a report marked 'Prize of Honour' and will no longer be classified.

EUROPEAN PREMIER (FIFe American Premier) from 01.01.2009 SUPREME PREMIER
This class is open to neutered cats, which have already obtained the title 'European Premier'. The exhibit will receive a report marked 'Prize of Honour' and will no longer be classified.

GRAND INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION
This class is open to cats, which have already received the title 'Grand International Champion'.  In this class a CACE is awarded. In order to obtain the title European Champion or FIFe American Champion, a cat must have been awarded nine CACE's by three different judges in three different countries during international shows. A maximum of seven CACE's could be obtained in the same country. As from 01.01.2007 the FIFe has introduced a supplement on this rule: or
in order to obtain the title European Champion, a cat must have been awarded eleven CACE's by six different judges in two different countries during eleven international shows. A maximum of ten CACE's could be obtained in the same country. A exhibit is awarded a certificate, when it has obtained the qualification Excellent 1 and the minimum of 97 points. From 01.01.2009 the FIFe has introduced a new certificate, CACE is going to be CACS and the new title the cats can obtain is Supreme Champion. This title is going to replace the title of European Champion.

GRAND INTERNATIONAL PREMIER
This class is open to neutered cats, which have already obtained the title 'Grand International Premier'. In this class a CAPE is awarded. In order to obtain the title European Premier or FIFe American Premier, a cat must have been awarded nine CAPE's by three different judges in three different countries during international shows. This class is open to cats, which have already received the title 'Champion'. In this class a CACIB is awarded. In order to obtain the title International Champion, a cat must have been awarded three CACIB's by three different judges in two different countries during international shows.
A exhibit is awarded a certificate, when it has obtained the qualification Excellent 1 and the minimum of 95 points.

PREMIER
This class is open to neutered cats which have already obtained the title 'Premier'. In this class a CAPIB is awarded. In order to obtain the title International Premier, a cat must have been awarded three CAPIB's by three different judges in two different countries during international shows.
A exhibit is awarded a certificate, when it has obtained the qualification Excellent 1 and the minimum of 95 points.

OPEN
This class is open to cats which are at least 10 months old and have not received a title yet. In this class a CAC is awarded. In order to obtain the title Champion, a cat must have been awarded three CAC's by three different judges during three national or international shows.
A exhibit is awarded a certificate, when it has obtained the qualification Excellent 1 and the minimum of 93 points.

NEUTER
This class is open to neutered cats which are at least 10 months old and have not received a title yet. In this class a CAP is awarded. In order to obtain the title Premier, a cat must have been awarded three or CAP's, by three different judges during three national or international shows.
A exhibit is awarded a certificate, when it has obtained the qualification Excellent 1 and the minimum of 93 points.

JUNIORS 6-10 MONTHS
This class is open to cats between 6 and 10 months old.

KITTENS 3-6 MONTHS
This class is open to cats between 3 and 6 months old. 

NOVICE CLASS
A cat can only be exhibited in the "Novice" class at a minimum age of 10 months in its own country after having been checked by the National Breeding Committee with regard to FIFe’s Breeding and Registration Rules.  The judges must be informed in writing of the reason why the exhibit is in this class. A novice can only be exhibited once in the "Novice" class. Two signatures of different judges are obligatory. The novice cat must obtain the qualification "EXCELLENT" respectively "I" for non- recognized breeds in order to authorize registration.

CONTROL CLASS
A cat can be checked in the Control class at the request of the National Breeding Committee or at the request of the breeder/exhibitor. In this class cats are checked by two International FIFe judges and this may be done before the official judging starts. The show organiser must provide the judges with a written explanation as to why the cat is presented in this class.

DOMESTIC CATS
Domestic cats should be judged according to the FIFe Standard.

Important:
Only FIFe certificates count for a FIFe title registration. Only FIFe registred cats of members of FIFe can receive FIFe titles. Non-FIFe members can enter their cats for shows in class 12, 11, 9 and 10. To enter a cat for a higher title the owner must be a member of FIFe.

Other titles
WW World Winner each cat winning at the Best In Show at the FIFe World Show will receive the title World Winner also mentioning the year of the show. The winning cats will have their title registered in their pedigree in the same way as other official FIFe titles.
SW Scandinavian Winner each cat winning at the Best in Show at the FIFe Scandinavian Show will receive the title Scandinavian Winner (SW) also mentioning the year of the show.  The winning cats will have their title registered in their pedigree in the same way as other official FIFe titles.
JW Junior Winner this title is only available at International Shows. In order to obtain the title, the cat must win “Best in Show“ in classes 11 + 12 a minimum of 5 times.
NW National Winner (New title since 01.01.2011) In each FIFe member country a maximum of 15 cats may be awarded the title National Winner (NW) per calendar year. A cat can only obtain the title once. Each FIFe member country may decide how the award this title. At Mundikat the following rules are decided: The points: each show a cat can obtain a maximum of 20 points. 10 points for Ex 1 in class 11 (junior), class 12 (kitten) and in class 1 till 10 (adults). 15 points for nomination and 20 points for Best in Show. Only the highest result on a show will count. All point collected in one calendar year will be added, no matter which class the cat was in. Only point obtained since 01.01.2011 are valid. When two cats have the same amount of point at the end of the calendar year, the cat with the least amount of shows will be awarded NW. In each category the best female and the best male will be given the title, neutered or not. The best house cat will also be given the title. This makes that Mundikat will give 9 cats the title each year. 
DM Distinguished Merit shall be awarded to a cat according to the following rules: the required number of offspring to gain the titles of IC/IP or higher or DM should be a minimum of 5 for a female cat and a minimum of 10 for a male cat and only FIFe registered titles are valid.
DSM Distinguished Show Merit this title is only available at National and International Shows and is available to all adult cats, including neuters. To obtain the title, the cat must win “Best in Show“ or “Best Opposite Sex“ a minimum of 10 times. The shortest qualifying period possible is two years and one day between the first “Best in Show“ or “Best Opposite Sex“ and the tenth. This is to prevent a cat becoming a DSM too quickly.
DVM Distinguished Variety Merit (new title since 01.01.2008), this title is only available at National and International Shows to cats in classes 1-12, including neuters, youngsters and kittens. To obtain the title, the cat must win “Best in Variety” a minimum of 10 times. The shortest qualifying period possible is two years and one day between the first “Best in Variety” and the tenth. This is to prevent a cat becoming a DVM too quickly. Only BIV's obtained since 01.01.2008 are valid.

Qualifications for the World Show
The World Show shall always take place on the last weekend in October. Only cats of fully recognised breeds and house cats belonging to individual FIFe members can qualify for and may compete at the World Show. Participation in the World Show is only possible for cats which have achieved the following qualification in the thirteen months prior to the show:

Kittens (class 12):
– Best in Variety or
– Nomination for Best in Show or
– 3 x Excellent 1.

Addition for class 12 (3-6 months): Kittens 3-6 months may participate in class 12 at the World Show, if they have achieved at least 1 x Excellent 1. This qualification is valid only in class 12.

 Juniors (class 11):
– Best in Variety or
– Nomination for Best in Show or
– 3 x Excellent 1.

Adults (classes 1 – 10):
– Best in Variety or
– Nomination for Best in Show or
– Each cat with the title International Champion, International Premior or higher or
– Each adult cat who got the qualification in the kitten class or in the junior class during the
13 months before the World Cat Show.

House cats (class 14):
– Nomination for Best in Show house cat.

The qualification for the World Show is checked and confirmed by the National Federation or Club where the exhibitor holds the membership.

Scandinavian Winner Show
Scandinavia (Norway and Sweden) may once a year organise a show in accordance with the rules valid for the FIFe World Show with exception of FIFe Show Rules article 2.2 (Date of the World Show), 2.4 (World Winner Title) and:

Kittens (class 12):
– Best in Variety or
– Nomination for Best in Show or
– 1 x Excellent 1.

Juniors (class 11):
– Best in Variety or
– Nomination for Best in Show or
– 3 x Excellent 1.

Admission
Not admitted to shows are:
– kitten younger than 3 months of age
– lactating queens
– pregnant queens
– de-clawed cats
– deaf cats (white cats must have a veterinary certificate stating that they are not deaf)
– cats with docked tails
– cats with cropped ears
– unneutered house cats aged 10 months or older

Excluded from competition are also for example: aggressive cats, cats showing any testicular anomaly (males older than 10 months), doped cats, cats with poly- or oligodactylism, cross-eyed (squinting) cats, cats showing an umbilical hernia.
